What Is SVN?

SVN means the most up-to-date version of the code, even more updated than the latest release.

It is the project's set of working files that have been edited since the last release came out.

For example, a bug can exist in release 1.x but fixed in SVN, meaning those changes will be published in the next official version.

How to download Wiremod from SVN
If you are lazy, Scroll down to 'Too Complicated?'

1. Get a suitable SVN client (Tortoise SVN is a good choice: TortoiseSVN | The coolest Interface to (Sub)Version Control)
2. Make sure you remove the "wire" folder from inside your addons folder
3. If you have Tortoise SVN, right click the addon folder in your garrysmod folder and choose "SVN Checkout"
4. Enter this address: "https://svn.wiremod.com/svn/wiremod/" If prompted for a username and password use anonsvn for username and anonsvn for password. You can also use this autolink, if Tortoise SVN was installed correctly: Tortoise autolink
5. Attention! Tortoise SVN may add \wiremod to the Checkout directory, it's vital to remove that!
To clarify: Checkout directory should be [all your folders]/garrysmod/addons
6. Press OK
7. After the download completes, delete the ".svn" database folder located in addons (not the ones in any subfolder, JUST the one in addons!). Note the folder is marked as hidden, you need to enable "Show hidden files and folders" in your OS to see it. This is not a critical step, and you can skip it if you wish, but if any other mod uses the "checkout to addons" method, this ensures it stays clean and no conflicts arise. Don't worry, the three or so wire folders that came from the Repository have their own ".svn" folders to keep track of their respective folders .

To update: Right click on the appropriate folder(s) and choose SVN update to update to the latest wire version. You can hold control + left click the folders first to select more than one, and then right-click one of the selected to update all of them (even those which are non-wire!) in one go. As of this writing, the wire folders are "Adv Duplicator,"wire model pack 1" and "Wire".

Steps to take if you downloaded wire into it's own folder instead of addons:

First, don't panic! This is an alternate way to install wire. We use the method above because it is simpler to explain. Just move the folder containing wire to your desktop or somewhere, and move the sub-folders contained inside back into addons. You may delete the folder on your desktop now.

NOTE: Do NOT try to copy the contents into addons without moving the folder first! (Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. Computer savvy people know why this happens, it's just that it is a long explanation, and we need to keep it simple) The important thing is that the sub-folders inside are moved into the addons folder intact, as they contain the all important info.txt and the data. Then delete the folder on the desktop. Follow the same update method above.

Unofficial Wire Extras SVN (UWSVN)

Do you have a craving for more Wiremod, but the current toolset isn't enough? Have a look at Anticept's UWSVN. It contains many of user contributed addons, all rolled into one package. Please note; it is an UNOFFICIAL SVN, so please ask questions according to the rules in the UWSVN thread (see notice at the bottom of the post).
